International Breast Feeding Awareness Week

To create awareness about the importance of breast feeding, Masonic Children’s Hospital celebrated International Breast Feeding Awareness week from 1st August- 7th August, 2022. 

The programme was inaugurated by our Chief Paediatrician Dr. R. Krishnaswami. Mrs.Malliga,Nursing Superintendent welcomed the gathering. 

Dr. Jenny, Paediatrician had given a valuable speech on “Awareness about Breastfeeding”. Our Staff Nurses explained about the significance of breastfeeding to the audience. 

Inner Wheel women’s Club, Secretary, Smt. Sasikala had given an inspiring speech about the theme of the year 2022.  

Mrs. Alamelu, President of Inner Wheel Club of Coimbatore North had an interactive session with the young mothers and public, explained about the importance and advantages of breast feeding. 

Various educational and cultural programmes were conducted to create awareness among the young mothers.  

To encourage and motivate the feeding mothers, drawing competition was conducted on the topic: “ANNAIYIN ANBU”. Well baby contest was conducted and  it attracted the parents, kids and audience. A mime show was conducted on the awareness of breastfeeding.  

Quiz programme was conducted for the Staff Nurses of Masonic and Student Nurses of other Nursing Colleges. 

Healthy and nutritious food to be taken and foods to be avoided was displayed for the benefit of lactating mothers.  Questions on healthy diet raised by the general audience were clarified by  Dieticians. 

Winners and Participants were honoured with gifts and prizes by Mrs.R.Jayamani, AGM 

Many parents appreciated and informed that the programmes were informative and very much useful for them.
